Organ Donation Awareness talk at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur

  • The Department of Community Medicine, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur, organized an Organ Donation Awareness Talk on 17th February 2018. Dr. Manjusha A. Dhoble Associate Professor of Community Medicine Department invited MOHAN Foundation, to give a talk on organ donation for the students.

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede director of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur gave information on the Importance of Organ donation to save another life; Types of organ and tissue donation; difference between coma and brain death; causes of brain stem death and the process of certification of death. He also explained the role of ZTCC for organ allocation, how patients register for transplantation on the waitlist. He explained the registration process for transplant centre and NTORC.  

    He requested the students to use website and helpline number. 100 students attended the session,3 students signed the consent form and collected their donor cards. 

    Question asked by students:

    If someone donates his kidney to his family but if he in future, he suffers kidney failure what he will do?

    If I sign the consent form how will MOHAN Foundation know of my demise?

    Is the process of Organ donation Legal?
