Organ Donation Awareness on the Constitution Day

  • On 26th November 2020, on the occasion of Constitution Day also known as National Law Day, Mr. Vilash Shewde invited MOHAN Foundation address a gathering about organ donation and transplantation at the St. Joseph Church ground.  

    Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation was the speaker for the occasion. He   introduced MOHAN Foundation, mentioned it is an acronym for Multi-Organ harvesting Aid Networking and also shared the activities, mission and vision of the Foundation.

    He explained the concept of organ donation, types of death (cardiac death and brain death), organs and tissues that can be donated after brain death and natural death. He further explained the difference between coma and drain death and difference between organ donation and body donation. Various myths and facts about organ donations were discussed information about organ allocation and distribution was shared.

    Many queries were also answered by Mr. Bulu Behera about allocation and distribution; difference between coma and brain death; religion and organ donation. There were around 58 participants and 10 of them expressed willingness to register online as organ donors.
