Organ Donation Awareness held at NCC Unit, Nagpur on Raising Day along with Blood Donation camp

  • On 22nd November 2021, MOHAN Foundation, in association with Transplants – Help the Poor Foundation conducted Organ Donation Awareness session along with Blood Donation camp. The program was organised by Col. Amodh Chandana (Commanding Officer of 20 MAH Bn NCC Unit) on the occasion of ‘65th Raising Day’ for Unit staff and Blood Donor volunteers cadets. Along with this he arranged Blood Donation camp for (Central India Institute of Haematologist and Oncologist) Cancer Hospital and Blood Bank, Dhantoli, Nagpur.

    Ms Prarthana Dwivedi, Transplant Coordinator was the speaker for session. She explained the concepts of organ donation, why and when is transplantation required, various organs that can be donated, types of donors, types of death, viability of organs after retrieval, difference between brain death and coma, Transplantation of Human Organs Act, myths and misconceptions related to organ donation. Information about the toll-free organ donation helpline (1800 103 7100) was also shared.

    • The following were a few questions asked:
    • Will the body be disfigured following donation?
    • What are the organs that can be donated while living?
    • How to register as an organ donor online?

    Total 64 units blood collected all members are participated in blood donation campaign to help Cancer patients. About 65 participants attended session and around 32 pledges were taken and few pledged online.  MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Col. Amodh Chandana for supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
