Organ Donation Awareness for the volunteers of Agarthulir Foundation

  • On 11th January 2016, volunteers from Agarthulir Foundation visited the Chennai office of MOHAN Foundation to learn about organ donation. This was a prerequisite, to their campaign and fundraising event for an Orchestra managed by the visually handicapped. 16 student volunteers attended the orientation and 12 picked donor cards.

     

    Mr. Jasvant of Agarthulir Foundation highlighted the work carried out by his group of volunteers.  The orientation began with a talk by Ms. Gieetha, transplant coordinator on the Concepts of Organ Donation.  She spoke on the why, when and how of organ and tissue donation.  She explained the causes of brain death and cautioned all the students to be careful while driving. The discussion after the talk focused on the value of donor card, the exact process on donation and need for cornea donation.

     

    After the orientation Ms. Sujatha, MIS and Dr. Hemal Q&A officer of MOHAN Foundation conducted a meeting about the fundraising event on 24th January 2016. Gaps were identified and duties were allocated. A program schedule was finalized. The next planning meeting is on 20th January 2016 at MOHAN Foundation.
