Organ Donation Awareness for Trainees of Police Bharti Prashikshan, Nagpur

  • On 17th November 2020, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Amol Hadke of the Police Bharti Prashikshan, training centre for Police exams to create awareness about organ donation among the current batch of trainees aspiring to join the police force. The awareness talk was organized at the St. Joseph playground in Jaitala.

    After being introduced to the audience by Mr. Hadke, Mr. Behera, a Transplant Coordinator from the Foundation spoke about the importance of organ donation, activities, mission and vision of MOHAN Foundation. He then proceeded to explain the following:

    • Concepts of organ donation
    • Types of Death (Cardiac death and Brain death)
    • Organs and tissues that can be donated after brain death and natural death
    • Difference between coma and Brain death
    • Difference between organ donation and body donation
    • Various myths and facts about organ donation
    • Information about organ allocation and distribution

    Mr. Behera answered a few queries raised by the audience. Around 60 trainees were present, and 15 of them signed consent forms and took donor cards.
