Organ Donation Awareness for Students of KLE Nursing College, Hubli

  • MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session for the students of KLE Nursing College, Hubli. The virtual session conducted on the 18th November was attended by nearly 10 participants including two engineering students. MOHAN Foundation was represented by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde (Quality Assurance Officer), Mrs. Sheetal Mundada (Transplant Coordinator) and Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS (Project Manager).

    Mrs. Ranjini initiated the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its work to the audience, the role of transplant coordinators and carried forward the session with the concepts of organ donation and brain stem death and also explained about circulatory death, organ allocation system in Karnataka, the importance of donor card, Jeevasarthakathe and legalities in organ donation and transplantation.

    Dr. Hemal talked about the role of youth in promoting organ donation. She explained in brief about initiatives like online competitions, volunteer training programmes like Angles of Change, awareness talks, information kiosks at big events at colleges, celebrity signature campaigns, community-driven awareness (for the public like auto drivers), special exhibits that students can undertake, contributing to blogs, articles and stories and interning with the MOHAN Foundation.
