Organ Donation Awareness for Residents of Kasabpura, Nagpur

  • Mr. Fazul Rahman Qureshi, the Youth Wing President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) invited Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation to put up a stall on 8th July 2021 in the Kasabpura locality in Nagpur. The locality predominantly houses Muslim families.

    Mr. Behera spoke about the following during his interaction with stall visitors:

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of organ donation in India – donation rates and organ requirement
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age not being a constraint in organ donation
    • Myths and facts related to organ donation
    • Role of ZTCC in organ donation
    • Organ donor stories
    • Importance of donor cards
    • Registering in MOHAN Foundation’s website to pledge organs after death
    • MOHAN Foundation’s Mission and Vision

    Around 70 residents visited the stall and 12 people signed up as organ donors.
