Organ Donation Awareness during Maha Shivratri Celebrations

  • On the occasion of Maha Shivratri, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur was invited by Mr. Sachin Lonkar, Secretary of the Shiv Temple in Subash Nagar to set up an awareness stall on 11th March 2021. The objective was to educate the devotees about organ donation and transplantation.

    A stall was put up with banners, brochures, pledge forms and donor cards displayed on. Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator, managed the stall. The visitors were shown a PowerPoint presentation on organ donation and transplantation using a laptop. Information regarding difference between cardiac death and brain death; roles of NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO and ZTCC was given. Participants asked about the difference between coma and brain death. The visitors were asked to download the organ donation app on their mobile phones which gives all necessary information related to organ donation and transplantation.

    Around 500 people visited the stall and 100 to 150 of them collected pledge forms, while 30  people pledged their organs and collected donor cards.
