On 23rd March 2021, four organ donation ambassadors – 2 students from MMM College and 4 postgraduate students from Tagore Medical College, interning at MOHAN Foundation visited the skin bank of Kilpauk Medical College, located on the 3rd floor of surgical building. The group was accompanied by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance officer of MOHAN Foundation.
An authorized technician explained all the pre-requisites, procedures, storage and other processes related to the skin bank. Dr. (Prof.) Angelina Selvaraj, MS MCH from the Department of Burns, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery briefed the group about the history and functioning of skin bank, legal aspects, process of harvesting, storage and how the grafts are utilized in recipients.
