Organ Donation Awareness at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Alappuzha

• In commemoration of Organ Donation Day, MOHAN Foundation was invited to deliver an awareness talk for the Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering students of Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Alappuzha on 13^th August 2021. It was a webinar attended by nearly 50 people, including faculty and students of the two departments. Dr. Maanu, from the institution organized the event and Ms Kavitha Aneesh, Transplant Coordinator was the speaker, who spoke on the following topics:

  • Organ donation and transplantation
  • Brief explanation on brain death
  • Identification and certification of brain death
  • Eye Donation
  • Organ allocation and sharing (KNOS)
  • Organ retrieval
  • Pledging organs
  • Role of a transplant coordinator

  The session ended with sharing of a motivational story, answering the queries raised by the group, process to pledge organs and using the tollfree helpline number.
