Organ Donation Awareness at Rajkumar Kewalramani Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur

  • Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Director of MOHAN Foundation’s Nagpur Center was invited to deliver a talk on organ donation and transplantation at Rajkumar Kewalramani Kanya Mahavidyalaya, a college in Jaripatkha, Nagpur on 21st September 2019.

    Rtn. Nilufer Rana was highly interested in organizing the talk and Mrs. Urmila Dabir, Principal of the college initiated the programme and extended an invitation to Dr. Ravi Wankhede.

    Dr. Wankhede using a powerpoint presentation spoke about the various organs and tissues that could be donated by people while living and after death. He explained the types of death: natural death and brain death. He explained in detail about brain death and natural death and how it would be possible for a brain dead person to save the lives of 8 people by donating organs and enhance lives of many others through tissue donation.

    Dr. Wankhede also requested everyone present to use the help line number and the website of MOHAN Foundation. There were several questions asked at the end of the session that Dr. Wankhede answered. About 50 students and staff were present and 3 of them signed consent forms and received donor cards.
