  Mr. Sameer and Mr. Nachiket of the Living Donors Club and Dr. Umesh Hallikeri invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an interactive session on organ donation on 27^th January 2021 at the RUDSETI Institute, Dharwad. Around 70 individuals attended the awareness session.

  MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mrs. Sheetal Mundada, Transplant Coordinator.

  The following topics were discussed in detail:

  • MOHAN Foundation – mission and activities
  • The burden of organ failure and need for organ donation
  • Importance of skin donation and skin banking
  • Jeevasarthakathe and its role
  • Organ allocation system in Karnataka
  • Importance of a donor card

  During the interaction, the audience raised the following questions:

  • How do hospitals ensure organ compatibility?
  • How are organs preserved when being transported?
  • Green corridor
  • Does my age or fitness level disqualify me from being a donor?
  • Distribution of the organs
  • Can diabetic patients be donors?
  • Can COVID-19 positive patients donate blood?
