Organ Donation Awareness at Krishi Mela 2021, Bengaluru

  • Krishi Mela an annual event organised by the University of Agricultural Sciences was held from 11th to 14th November 2021in the GKVK campus, Bengaluru. Mr. Shridhar Hanchinal of MOHAN Foundation had coordinated for an organ donation awareness stall to be put up at the mela venue on all 4 days.

    Mrs. Ranjini Shankar, Project Manager and Mr. Marulappa L N, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation, managed the stall. Around 1670 members participating in the mela visited the stall and were given information related to the following topics:

    • MOHAN Foundation – activities, mission, vision
    • concepts of organ and tissue donation
    • types of death - cardiac death and brain death
    • brain death declaration
    • procedures of deceased and living organ donation.
    • procedures of eye, skin, and bone donation
    • role of Jeevasarthakathe
    • transplant law
    • importance of a donor card
    • myths and facts, and barriers to organ
