Organ Donation Awareness at JN School of Nursing

  • On 12th March 2019, MOHAN Foundation Imphal conducted an awareness session for the students of JN College of Nursing, at Porompat, Imphal. Around 28 students and a teacher were present at the session.

     

    Ms. Roma Devi, Transplant Co-ordinator from MOHAN Foundation at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal was at the venue to deliver the talk. She began with an introduction of the concepts of organ donation. She went on to explain the necessity and importance of organ donation, types of donors and the difference between brain death and cardiac or circulatory death. Tissues and organs that could be donated in case of brain death and cardiac death and the importance of carrying donor cards were also discussed.

     

    The programme ended with a long Q&A session with participants asking questions about organ donation, the hospital process and the donor registration process. All the students signed up as organ donors and received donor cards as well.
