On July 8, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation team conducted an enlightening awareness session for nursing students at BALAJI Nursing College. Aimed at educating the students about organ donation, the session highlighted the essential role that NGOs play in disseminating information and raising public awareness about this critical issue. The discussion addressed several prevalent myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation, providing clarity on important topics.
The session covered a range of key subjects, including the crucial distinction between brain stem death and a coma, the legal frameworks and state government guidelines governing organ donation, and various aspects of the donation process. Attendees learned about the eligibility criteria for organ donors, the types of organs and tissues that can be donated, and the detailed procedures involved in organ donation.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer segment, offering the 52 participating nursing students the opportunity to seek further clarification on their queries and deepen their understanding of organ donation.
