On 5th September, 2013 to observe Teacher’s Day three Inner Wheel Clubs in Chennai (Madras South, Chennai Presidency and Chennai Galaxy) got together to host a special programme at Gandhi Nagar Club, Adyar.
As part of the programme, the clubs honoured teachers who have contributed in great measure to the growth of young minds. They had also invited guest speakers to address the members. One of the guest speakers was Dr. Sumana Navin, Course Director, MOHAN Foundation. She spoke about organ donation. She emphasized the fact that organ failure was on the rise and that diabetes was one of the primary reasons for this. She said that while working on preventive measures was paramount, deceased organ donation could help many patients suffering from end-stage organ failure to undergo a lifesaving transplant surgery. She also clarified various myths about organ donation and spoke to the members about the Donor Card.
There were around 60 members who attended the programme. The Indian Transplant Newsletter and Donor cards were distributed to all the participants.
