  • On August 29th, 2013 the National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), New Delhi brought together 120 motivated students under one roof for an awareness talk on deceased organ donation. The session was organised by MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR.

SRCC is a leading institute for higher studies in Commerce and Economics in India. Ms Krupalini, NSS head, SRCC and Mr Raunaq Rewari, volunteer and student co-ordinator, SRCC took the initiative to organise this session and to gather the students.

The seminar hall where the talk was conducted was full and there were around 30 students who stood for the entire length of the session. The session started with Mr. Amit Kumar, Program Manager, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR introducing the Foundation and its activities. He also laid emphasis on the huge gap between the number of patients waiting for an organ and the number of donations that actually take place. Further; the role of the youth in helping spread awareness about the issue was also stressed upon.

The students seemed keen to involve themselves in activities to spread awareness and they also agreed to discuss their decision with their family members.

A total of 120 students attended the session and around 80 participants signed the donor card.
