Organ Donation Awareness Talk conducted for JCI NGO members, Nagpur

  • On 19th December 2021, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an Awareness Talk on Organ Donation for JCI members. This programme was organized by Mr. Tarun Shrivas. He conducted an Orientation Program for new members of JCI at Arpan Hall, Jhansi Rani Square, Nagpur.

    After this programme, Ms. Prarthana began the session with introduction to MOHAN Foundation.

    Topics discussed in this session were as follows:

    • She explained about living donors and deceased donors
    • Which organs and tissues can be donated after Circulatory death and Brain death?
      • She discussed about the number of patients who require organ donation in India?         
      • What is the time limit to transplant organs to the recipient?
      • Role of ZTCC
      • Myths and facts about organ donation.
      • Donor card and its importance
      • MOHAN Foundation helpline number was shared with the participants.

    Some of the questions asked were:

    • ZTCC role in Organ Donation.
    • Can blind person donate their cornea?

    Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi answered all the queries promptly. Around 54 participants attended the session and about 20 JCI members pledged to become Organ donors.
