  • On January 11, 2026, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador for MOHAN Foundation, delivered an organ donation awareness talk to members of the Parish Pastoral Council at St. Elizabeth Church, Ucassaim, Bardez, Goa.

Mr. Pereira shared his personal journey and the motivation behind becoming an Organ Donation Ambassador, inspired by his sister-in-law’s experience with renal failure that required a life-saving transplant. This experience strengthened his commitment to educating communities in Goa about the importance of organ donation.

He explained the process of organ allocation as managed by SOTTO–Goa and outlined the roles of the Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) and the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO).

Mr. Pereira informed the participants that kidney and corneal transplants are currently performed in Goa and provided details of the transplant hospitals in the state. He also shared that there are presently 82 patients on the transplant waiting list in Goa.

He requested the Parish Priest to circulate the presentation video through the parish WhatsApp group. The video included an animated short film by Shweta Gupta, a brain death explainer, and a film produced by ROTTO/SOTTO Mumbai, aimed at helping parishioners gain a clearer understanding of organ donation.

At the conclusion of the session, flyers containing frequently asked questions along with a QR code for pledging to donate were distributed to all 15 attendees.

Mr. Pereira expressed his gratitude to Fr. Savio de Souza, Parish Priest of St. Elizabeth Church, for providing MOHAN Foundation with the opportunity to address this important subject.
