Organ Donation Awareness Talk at Sacred Heart College

  • Red Ribbon Club (RRC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) of Sacred Heart College, Thirupathur, Sivaganga District jointly organized a special program titled “ORGAN DONATION AND ITS IMPORTANCE” on 29/01/2018 between 2 and 4 PM in the premises of the college campus at Mother Teresa Hall (Bi-Centenary Building). MOHAN Foundation was invited to speak on the topic.  Mr. Siva Shankar of MOHAN Foundation was deputed as resource person.  

                120 student volunteers from RRC and NSS participated in the program. The program started with a prayer song. Master Kothandam from II B.Sc., Computer Science welcomed the gathering. The inaugural address was delivered by Mr. V. Madhan Kumar, Asst Prof of English and RRC Coordinator. Dr. M. Antony Arockiasamy, Asst. Professor of Mathematics and NSS Coordinator felicitated and welcomed the resource person.

                Mr. Siva Shankar, Helpline Executive addressed the students and gave valuable information about organ donation and its importance. Students actively participated in the program and at the end they clarified their doubts with the resource person.

    Few questions asked by the students were:

    1. Will organ donation happen after postmortem?
    2. Like MOHAN Foundation do we have any government organisations for promoting this cause?
    3. Are organs donated after natural death?

    The donor cards were distributed to 10 students who were interested in organ donation. Dr. Ramesh, Asst Prof of Economics and NSS Coordinator concluded the program with his words of gratitude.  MOHAN Foundation thanks Mr. V. Madhan Kumar of  The Sacred Heart College who coordinated the session.
