On July 18, 2025, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador with MOHAN Foundation, conducted an awareness session on organ donation for diploma students at the Agnel Institute of Food Craft and Culinary Science, Verna, Goa.
Using a PowerPoint presentation, Mr. Pereira covered key aspects of organ and tissue donation. He discussed which organs and tissues can be donated in cases of circulatory and brain stem death, explained the medical definition and implications of brain stem death, and clarified the difference between coma and brain stem death.
The session featured videos explaining brain death, steps to obtain and use an organ donor card, and a testimonial by Ms. Shreya Siddanagowder. Mr. Pereira also shared the trailer of the film Aye Zindagi on YouTube to illustrate the life-changing impact of organ donation.
The session concluded with Mr. Pereira expressing his gratitude to Mr. Joe Dias, Principal of the institute, for facilitating the session and supporting the cause of organ donation.
The talk was attended by approximately 150 students and several teachers.
