On March 31, 2026, MOHAN Foundation NCR conducted an organ donation awareness session at Cloudnine Hospital, Sector 47, Gurugram.
Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer at MOHAN Foundation NCR, and Ms. Anchal Sharma, Programme Officer at MOHAN Foundation NCR, served as the resource persons for the session.
Ms. Simran began the session by asking participants about their existing knowledge of organ donation. Then she explained the status of organ donation in India and covered the basic concepts of organ donation and transplantation using a PowerPoint presentation. The concept of brain death was explained with the help of a short informative film. Ms. Simran also detailed the steps involved in brain death declaration and clarified the concept of legal death.
The session covered key topics, including:
• The Transplantation of Human Organs & Tissues Act, 1994
• Organs that can be donated during life and after death
• The registration process for organ donation
• The importance of organ donation
• The role of MOHAN Foundation
• Myths and facts about organ donation
The session was highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation and numerous questions. Participants raised queries such as: Is the donor’s family informed about the recipient’s details? Will a donor be able to live a healthy life after donating a portion of their liver?
Ms. Simran explained that the identities of both the donor and recipient are kept strictly confidential and are not disclosed to each other. She further clarified that a donor could live a healthy life even after donating a portion of the liver.
