Updated on Friday, June 6, 2025
  • On May 7, 2025, the MOHAN Foundation organized an insightful awareness session on organ donation at its Nagpur office located in Medical Square. The session was specially arranged for 9 theology students from the National Council of Churches in India (NCCI), who were accompanied by Mr. Moses Gour.

Ms. Veena Wathore from the MOHAN Foundation led the session with an in-depth presentation on organ, tissue, and body donation. She also highlighted the Foundation’s ongoing initiatives, including various training programs and the Anudan financial assistance scheme, which supports underprivileged transplant recipients.

Adding to the session’s practical relevance, Ms. Bhagyashree Nighot shared her field experience at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur. She detailed the process of counseling and obtaining consent for organ donation, illustrating the discussion with a specific case to help students understand real-life challenges. Ms. Nighot also addressed the emotional and logistical complexities involved in communicating with donor families.

Nine NCCI theology students attended the session and actively participated in the discussions. They raised thoughtful questions, such as:

    • How can we get involved in organ donation initiatives?
    • Can organs be stored for transplant, and if so, for how long?
    • What are the common challenges faced during family counseling?

Both Ms. Veena and Ms. Bhagyashree responded comprehensively, ensuring a meaningful and enriching exchange.

The MOHAN Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to Mr. Moses Gour for facilitating the visit and for his continued partnership. The Foundation looks forward to further collaborative efforts in spreading awareness and fostering greater public engagement in the cause of organ donation.
