Organ Donation Awareness Session conducted for Fire Fighters at Belapur, Navi Mumbai

  • On 6thNovember 2023, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session for Fire Fighters and Silent Workers (Guards) of the Fire Station. The session was organised by Mr Vikas Kohli In charge of Belapur Fire Station and conducted by Ms Prarthana Dwivedi.

    She introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation past 23 years. She explained the difference between Cardiac Death & Brain Death in-depth. Then she elaborated about the organs & tissues that can be donated by both the cases. She also introduced the public about new advances like Hand Donation. She explained about tissue donation (skin, eyes & bones). She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain-Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor.

    Ms Prarthana discussed about Myths around Organ donation that most families of deceased donor have and how to debunk them by explaining relevant facts. Lastly Ms Prarthana described the importance of discussing about Organ Donation within the family and to carry Donor Card always in purse or wallet.

    About 20 people attended session and 12 took the pledge to be an Organ Donor. Informative flyers were also distributed to staff members of fire station. We thank Mr Vikas Kohli for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
