On 24.06.2026, an organ donation awareness session was successfully conducted during the morning at Zilla Parishad High School, Chandampet, Nalgonda District. The session was led by Venkatesh Kattela, Project Manager, under the aegis of the MOHAN Foundation, with the objective of educating and sensitizing students and faculty members about the life-saving potential of organ and tissue donation.
The programme reached 78 students and faculty members through an informative presentation followed by an interactive discussion. The session was carefully designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of organ and tissue donation while encouraging active participation and meaningful dialogue.
The programme comprehensively covered key topics, including:
• The role of the MOHAN Foundation in promoting organ donation awareness
• Meaning and types of organ and tissue donation (living and deceased donation)
• Difference between brain death and cardiac arrest
• Importance and scope of tissue donation, including cornea, skin, and bone donation
• Legal framework under the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), 1994
• Importance of carrying donor cards and obtaining family consent
• Addressing common myths and misconceptions related to organ and tissue donation
A key highlight of the session was the enthusiastic participation of the students. They actively engaged throughout the programme by asking thoughtful questions, particularly regarding organ and tissue donation, reflecting their curiosity and eagerness to learn more about this life-saving cause.
The session also emphasized the importance of discussing organ donation with family members and making informed decisions, encouraging participants to become ambassadors of awareness within their communities. Notably, 10 members from faculty pledged to donate their organs.
