Organ Donation Awareness Session at Social Service Department, GMCH Nagpur

  • On September 26, 2025, an organ donation awareness session was conducted at the Social Service Department of GMCH, Nagpur, for the students of Tirpude Institute of Social Work, Nagpur. The session was organized at the invitation of Mr Naresh Nasare, Social Service Superintendent, and conducted by Ms. Bhagyashree Nighot.

    During the session, the students actively participated and learned about organ donation. Ms. Bhagyashree explained the following key points:

    1. Concept of organ donation and tissue donation
    2. Concept and definition of brain death
    3. Types of death – brain death and cardiac death
    4. Organs and tissues donated after brain death and circulatory death
    5. How one person can save the lives of up to 8 people

    A total of 12 participants attended the session, and they asked questions such as:

    1. Is the body handed over to the family after organ donation?
    2. What is the age limit for organ donation?
    3. What is the ratio of people who give consent for organ donation?
