Organ Donation Awareness Session at ICAR–CRIDA, Gungal, Telangana

  • On 23.04.2026, an organ donation awareness session was successfully conducted at ICAR–CRIDA, Gungal, Ranga Reddy District, Telangana. The session was led by Venkatesh Kattela, Project Manager, under the aegis of the MOHAN Foundation.

    Due to unexpected rainfall, the session was thoughtfully rescheduled to the evening hours to ensure it did not disrupt the participants’ professional responsibilities. This flexibility enabled continued participation and reflected strong commitment from both organizers and attendees.

    The session witnessed the participation of over 80 individuals, comprising staff and professionals. The programme was designed to be interactive and informative, focusing on building awareness about the importance and impact of organ donation.

    Key topics covered during the session included:

    • Meaning and types of organ donation
    • Difference between brain death and cardiac arrest
    • Importance of timely consent and donor cards
    • Legal framework under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THOA), 1994
    • Addressing myths and misconceptions

    The session received an encouraging and positive response from the participants. A remarkable outcome of the programme was that all 80 attendees expressed their willingness to donate their organs, reflecting a strong sense of social responsibility and awareness.

    Overall, the session was highly impactful and successful, reinforcing the importance of continued awareness efforts in promoting organ donation among diverse professional communities.
