Organ Donation Awareness Drive at Masilamani Primary School, Chengulpet

  • On 13th April 2015 Masilamani Primary School initiated a sensitization programme, as part of their 55th Annual Day Celebration of the school and Ms. Sharmila, English teacher invited MOHAN Foundation to talk about Organ Donation during the programme. Mr.Prakash K. Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation, Chennai participated in the programme. 

    The following topics were covered in the talk:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death, Coma and Cardiac Death
    • Importance of the consent from the family
    •  Importance of Donor card 
    • The tissues and organs  that can be donated

    More than 400 students and parents participated in the programme and at the end of the programme information brochures were given to the participants.  The parents needed time to think over the cocept and to make their decision.  No one pledged their organs.
