Online awareness session on Organ Donation for the students of Govt. Degree College, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh

  • On 20th October 2020, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an online awareness session on Organ Donation for the students of Govt. Degree College, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Around 30 students attended the session.

    The session was an initiative of Mr.  Ashish Negi, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Public Administration. Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch.

    In this talk, she explained the following points: -

    • The importance of organ and tissue donation 
    • Why there is a need for organ donation
    • The status of organ donation in India
    • Myths about organ donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Organ donation and its types – Live donation & Deceased donation
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs, they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     

    Three real instances of deceased donation in Chandigarh was shared with the entire group - how they ended up saving lives of others and became a legacy. Also, that the act of donation is truly miraculous and a true gift of Life.

    It was a very enthusiastic group and a few of them asked questions.
