Online One-Month ‘Transplant Coordination Professional Certificate’ Course Successfully Conducted - 1st December 2021 - 10th January 2022

  • MOHAN Foundation successfully conducted the online one-month Transplant Coordination Professional Certificate course from 1st December 2021 to 10th January 2022. A total of 24 participants across the country enrolled for the course - Andhra Pradesh (1) Delhi-NCR (1), Haryana (1), Karnataka (3), Kerala (2), Madhya Pradesh (1), Maharashtra (3), Manipur (1), Odisha (1), Tamil Nadu (9), West Bengal (1). The participants were from various cadres of healthcare and other professions like doctor, nurse, social worker, counsellor, administration, management and marketing. The participants were shared with their credentials to access the resource materials which were made available on the e-learning platform - https://el.mohanfoundation.org/

     

    As part of the course, weekend webinars were conducted on Saturdays (two hours) where participants were given the opportunity to attend the guest lectures and experience virtual interactions. The guest speakers included Ms. Trilly Rachel Mathew, Transplant Manager, Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon, Haryana and Mr. Sagayam Francis, Executive Officer - MIOT International, Chennai.

     

    The sessions covered during the weekend webinars were

    • Basic concepts of Organ Donation and Transplantation
    • Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THO Act)
    • Living Donor Transplant Coordination - Role of a Transplant Coordinator
    • Ethical aspects of Organ Donation and Transplantation
    • Deceased Donation Coordination - Role of a Transplant Coordinator

     

    A ‘Roleplay’ was also conducted to demonstrate approaching families for organ donation. Ms. Sujatha Suriyamoorthi, Associate Director - Courses, MOHAN Foundation narrated a challenging situation and participants were invited as volunteers to roleplay from the perspective of their character, experience the family approach and challenges faced while coordinating deceased organ donation. 

     

    As part of the course, participants appeared for an online examination. A total of 22 out of 24 candidates cleared the exam and received their completion certificates. The participants also shared their feedback/ reviews about the course.
