Online Awareness session on Organ Donation done at Orange City Convent, Narkhed

  • On 6th August 2020, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness webinar on Organ Donation for students of Orange city school & college, Narkhed. Mrs Quazi organized this webinar through Google meet.

    Ms Prarthana Dwivedi began session by introducing MOHAN Foundation to the participants. She explained about the living donations and deceased donation and which organ can be donated after death. She added that there are a number of patients with end stage disease of organs like heart, lungs and liver who requires transplants too. The organs and tissues that can be donated while living and after a person dies of circulatory death were listed out. She then focused on brain stem death and listed out the organs and tissues that could be donated. She also spoke about how time was critical in transplanting organs from deceased donors.

    She ended the talk by giving an outline about the MOHAN Foundation helpline number. Some of the questions asked were –

    • Sickle cell patient can donate his organs?
    • If a person using lens, eye sight is not good, can eligible for eye donation?
    • Brain can be donated?
    • In Heart Transplantation, what is a time limit or how its work?

    Ms Prarthana. Dwivedi answered all the queries promptly. Around 58 students attended the session & few teachers online to become an Organ Donor. MOHAN Foundation would like to thank Mrs Quazi for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
