Online Awareness about Organ Donation conducted at Yog Studio Sawargaon, Narkhed

  On 15^th August 2020 on the occasion of Independence Day, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness talk on Organ Donation at Yog Studio Sawargaon, Narkhed.

   

  Mr Varun Manek (Organizer) requested MOHAN Foundation to conducts awareness session on organ donation for members of Yog Studio at Sawargaon, Narkhed. Awareness session was organized over the Zoom meeting platform.

   

  Ms Prarthana began session by introduced MOHAN Foundation to the participants and briefly explained about eye donation. The following topics were explained in detail to the audience:

  • Organ failure and causes
  • Circulatory and brain death
  • Difference between brain death and coma
  • Types of donors
  • Organ and tissue donation while living and after death
  • Hand transplants
  • Age criteria to donate organs
  • Importance of family consent in organ donation process
  • Transplant waitlist
  • Transplantation of Human Organs Act
  • Organ Donation Statistics of Maharashtra and India.
  • Myths and misconceptions around organ donation
  • Whole body donation
  • How to pledge organs

   

  About 192 people had joined the session and were very enthusiastic about learning more about organ donation. The following are a few questions that were asked:

  • How is Hand donation done?
  • Procedure of organ allocation?
  • How is donated Hand used?
  • Can diabetic people donate their organs?

  The session lasted for more than one hour and was highly interactive. MOHAN Foundation would like to thank Varun Manek for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
