Online Awareness Session on Organ Donation conducted with NGO Being Samajik and Sanskritik Sanstha, Jabalpur

  • On 14th June 2020, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an online awareness session on organ donation along with NGO Being Samajik and Sanskritik Sanstha, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Mr. Prabhat Barman (Organizer) of Being Samajik and Sanskritik Sanstha, Jabalpur promoted & coordinated the session.

    Ms. Prarthana. Dwivedi introduced MOHAN Foundation to the participants. She explained living donation and deceased donation and the organs that can be donated after death.

    In this talk she explained the following points:

    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision
    • Difference between circulatory death and brain death
    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • How many lives can be saved & healed through Organ Donation
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She debunked various myths with facts about Organ Donation
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Importance of the Donor Card.

    In the Q&A segment, some of the participants asked about Brain Death and how it will happen and also difference between organ donation & body donation. Dr Jimmy answered all the queries promptly. It was an interactive session.  The entire group got motivated and was convinced to support organ donation and they would love to share their wish with their families and also respect the body after death. A total of 18 participants including MSW students participated in the session. We would like to thank Mr. Prabhat Barman for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
