On 12th August 2020, MOHAN Foundation was invited for taking Online Awareness Session on Organ Donation for Physiotherapy students of Late Shree Fakirabai Pansare Education Foundation’s College of Physiotherapy Nigadi Pune. Dr Virendra Meshram (HOD & Professor - Cardiovascular & Respiratory Physiotherapy had taken this initiative in organizing the session on account of Celebration of World Organ Donation Week.
Dr Virendra Meshram introduced Dr Jimmy Gupta and Ms Pratima Phadatare. Dr Jimmy initiated the session introducing MOHAN Foundation, its Mission and Vision. Then she explained the concept of Organ and Tissue Donation. She also explained types of death i.e. cardiac death, brain death and then she explains about Brain Death declaration through Apnoea test and procedure of deceased organ donation and live organ donation. She elaborated procedure of skin, bone and eye donation, as well as barriers of organ donation.
After that Ms Pratima Phadatare debunked myths and explained facts related to organ donation process. She then explained about the Donor Card and how to become an Organ Donor. She elaborated the activities of MOHAN Foundation conducted for volunteers programme i.e. Angels change programme.
Around of 95 participants including Physiotherapy students with their faculty attended the session. All the queries were answered by Dr Jimmy promptly.
