On September 6, 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited to participate in a walkathon organized by the Rishikesh Eye Bank at AIIMS Rishikesh to mark the 39th National Eye Donation Fortnight. Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader at MOHAN Foundation stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh, represented the Foundation at the event.
The event commenced with a flag march, followed by a 5 km walkathon along Astha Path, near the sacred Ganges in Rishikesh. The procession was led by Professor Meenu Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Rishikesh. Key faculty members who actively participated included Dr. Sanjeev Mittal, Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Rishikesh; Dr. Rohit Gupta, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology; Dr. Neeti Gupta, Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology; and Dr. Reeta Sharma, Chief Nursing Officer at AIIMS Rishikesh.
In addition to these prominent figures, the walkathon saw participation from the eye bank staff, resident doctors, nursing staff, and administrative personnel from the Department of Ophthalmology. The participants engaged in flag hoisting and slogan-raising activities to promote public awareness of eye donation. Over 80 people took part in the event, effectively spreading the important message of eye donation within the community.
