On August 13, 2025, on the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, M/s. WPP Media invited Ms Jaya Jairam to conduct a Webinar on 'Donate Life: A Conversation that can Save Lives', for its employees.
Around 55 employees attended the webinar. Ms Jaya made a presentation through which she introduced MOHAN Foundation and covered concepts of organ donation, who can donate, why, when and how. She discussed brain death, the process of registering on the waiting list and also touched upon some common myths that hold people back. She then urged the audience to pledge their own organs by signing up for a donor card, using the online link and having conversations at home with their loved ones. Lastly, she shared her emotional story of how her mother donated her kidney to her so as to save her life.
The audience raised many questions and a few are listed below -
1. Is the family's consent necessary even though the individual has pledged their organs?
2. What is the process for Bone Marrow Transplant? How can one get access to a bone marrow donor?
3. If the family - still in shock - forgets to mention that their expired loved one had pledged their organs, does the hospital have access to the pledge registry so they can remind the family members?
