Members of a Housing Loan Society learn about Organ Donation

  • Mr. Puttegowda, a private housing loan society member of Nagadevanahalli branch in Kengeri, Bengaluru, invited MOHAN Foundation to help the members of private housing loan society, learn about organ donation. The session that took place in the society premises on the morning of 11th July 2021, was attended by 30 members.

    MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Marulappa LN (Transplant Coordinator) and Mrs. Ranjini Shankar M S (Project Manager, Bengaluru).

    Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS initiated the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities, explained the importance and need for donation, when and who can become donors and concepts of brain stem death and circulatory death. She also touched upon the common myths that prevailed in the minds of public and explained the importance of a donor card.

    Discussion with the audience:

    • Does my age/fitness level disqualify me from being a donor?
    • Living donation
    • Do people have to pay for the organs?
    • Will the donor’s hospital charges be taken care of by the recipient’s family?

    Around 18 members pledged their organs and promised to support the cause. MOHAN Foundation is thankful for the opportunity.
