





Dr. Sunil Shroff and Ms. Pallavi Kumar were invited as expert faculty at TRANSPLANTCON 2020, the first ever workshop on brain death and organ donation organised by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on February 21-22, 2020.
The workshop was organised by the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplant. The Organising Chairperson was Prof. Puneet Dhar, HOD of Surgical Gastroenterology and the Co-Organising Chairperson was Prof Kim Mammen, HOD, Department of Urology.
AIIMS Rishikesh plans to start liver and kidney transplants and the CME was the first attempt towards sensitisation and community awareness on organ donation. It was attended both by hospital staff and the general public.
Dr. Sunil Shroff spoke on the Transplantation of Human Organs Act & its current Amendments, Legal & Ethical Considerations in Brain Death Declaration and Concepts of Organ Donation. Ms. Pallavi Kumar spoke about Approaches in Counselling families for Organ Donation.
An activity to understand the Organ Donation Pathway and the involvement of multiple departments in organ donation was also facilitated by Dr. Shroff and Ms. Pallavi.
