Awareness session for Students at Umang Career Development Classes Nagpur

  • On 26th January 2020 on the occasion of Republic Day, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation for students at Umang Career Development Classes, Jaripatka Nagpur.

    They also arranged Drawing Competition for children along with Organ Donation Session for their parents under the coordination of Mr Rahul Dave (Owner of Umang Career Classes) who is has been offering professional training to students past 12 years. Ms Prarthana was invited to host flag of India followed by singing national anthem before starting of the session.

    Ms Prarthana introduced MOHAN Foundation and Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation along with their philanthropy. She explained the concepts of organ Donation, why and when a transplantation is required, various organs that can be donated, types of donors, types of death, and viability of organs after retrieval. She also explained the difference between Brain death and Cardiac Death. She also elaborated the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, and discussed about the myths and misconceptions related to organ donation. She also briefed about Skin donation, Eye donation, Organ donation and Body donation.

    Crowd asked the following were a few questions asked:

    • Difference between cardiac death and natural death?
    • Can diabetic patient donate their organ?

    Ms. Prarthana answered all the queries promptly. The session which began around 09:30 am was attended by 20 staff members. We thank Mr Rahul Dave for inviting us for conducting session on Organ Donation.
