MOHAN Foundation was invited to the first trilogy camp on Blood, Eye, and Organ Donation held at Babina Blood Centre, Sajiwa, Manipur, on April 1, 2024. The event was jointly organized by the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, Manipur (AVBD), Personality and Talent Development Organisation, Lonja Alepa Foundation, and Lainingthou Sanamahi Lup. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, and Ms. Thoidingjam Udayini Khuman, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation, represented the team and set up an information cum pledge counter.
Mr. Kumarjit Singh, Treasurer of AVBD, approached MOHAN Foundation regarding the program and coordinated the camp. Members of the Manipur State Eye Bank (MSEB) also participated as invitees and opened an eye donation pledge counter. Blood donors from different parts of Manipur participated in the camp and visited the counters before and after blood donation.
The team explained the basic concepts of organ donation & eye donation, the waiting list registry in India, types of organ donation, simplified the concept of brain death, and emphasized the importance of family consent in this process. The stories of deceased donation were also highlighted to the visitors at the counter. A few queries were addressed by the MOHAN Foundation team, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on organ donation were also distributed.
The trilogy camp is committed to continuing in the long run with other blood banks in the Imphal area. The Manipur State Eye Bank team and MOHAN Foundation team managed to register 21 pledges on the spot, including a whole family of 5 members.
