On July 24, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in association with Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI) Pvt. Ltd., Langol, Imphal West, Manipur, conducted an awareness session on organ donation at the Outpatient Department (North Block) of the hospital. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) and Project Lead (Manipur), along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, and Mrs. Thaudem Mayarani Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.
The program was coordinated by Mr. Haobam Gunaremba Singh, Transplant Coordinator, and Ms. Sweety Moirangthem, Assistant Transplant Coordinator at SHRI Pvt. Ltd. Ms. Sweety also delivered the welcome address and introduced the MOHAN Foundation team to the audience at the OPD.
Mr. Bidyananda provided an overview of the MOHAN Foundation, elaborating on its vision and key objectives in promoting ethical organ donation and transplantation across the country. He introduced the concept of organ donation, highlighting the vital organs that can be donated and the life-saving impact these donations can have on recipients. He emphasized that a single donor has the potential to save up to nine lives and that organ donation restores hope and dignity to patients enduring long and uncertain waits for a life-saving transplant.
He also addressed common misconceptions surrounding organ donation, using factual information to dispel myths. In conclusion, he strongly reiterated that organ donation transcends all barriers of religion, caste, and creed, and is universally supported as an act of compassion and humanity.
Mrs. Mayarani distributed informational pamphlets on organ donation to all participants and provided a brief explanation on how individuals can pledge to donate their organs. The session was attended by nearly 100 individuals, who gained a deeper understanding of the subject and its life-saving significance.
