On July 30, 2025, an awareness program on organ donation was jointly organized by the Tripura Institute of Paramedical Science (TIPS) and the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), Tripura, at the assembly hall of TIPS, Hapania. The program was coordinated by Dr. Manirul Islam (Nodal Officer, SOTTO, Tripura) and Prof. Sampa Sengupta (Principal, TIPS), along with the teaching and non-teaching staff of TIPS.
MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Vincent Debbarma (Project Lead, Tripura), while Mr. Deepak Purkayastha (Eye Donation Counsellor, Tripura) represented the Eye Bank of Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital, Agartala.
The program began with a warm welcome and felicitation by Dr. Swarup Dutta (Associate Professor, TIPS), followed by a session on drug addiction by Dr. Manirul. He discussed how youth today are increasingly affected by drug abuse and spoke about the serious health consequences of drug use. He also shared practical tips on how to avoid drugs and how students and the community can collectively combat drug peddling.
Mr. Vincent delivered a talk on organ donation using a PowerPoint presentation. He introduced MOHAN Foundation and shared insights into its mission and various initiatives.
Mr. Deepak spoke about eye donation, explaining the process and emphasizing its importance in restoring sight.
The program was attended by around 123 participants, including nursing students, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff.
