MOHAN Foundation educates members of SHG about organ donation in Tiruvanmiyur, Chennai

  Karana Karya Trust Chennai invited MOHAN Foundation on 11^th Oct 2014 to deliver a talk on Organ Donation for the members of their Women’s Self-Help Group (SHG) in Thiruvanmiyur. 40 members attended the session.  Mr. F. Ruben of the trust  coordinated the program. Mr. R. Ananth, Transplant coordinator from MOHAN Foundation spoke on the following aspects of organ donation:

  1. Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation

  2. Brain Death- how it’s different from natural death and coma

  3. Organs that can be donated after brain death and natural death

  4. Importance of Donor card

  5. Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme

   

  Queries raised during the interaction were:

  1. If there is cardiac death in the house, who should be contacted for eye donation?

   

  All the 40 SHG members present picked a Donor Card and expressed their support.
