MOHAN Foundation conducts awareness session on organ donation at Kshetrigao UPHC, Imphal-East, Manipur

  • On July 10, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Kshetrigao Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Imphal-East, Manipur. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) and Project Lead (Manipur), along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, and Mrs. Thaudem Mayarani Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.

     

    The event was organised as part of the Immunization Programme at the UPHC in coordination with Mrs. Y. Premlata, Nurse-in-Charge, Kshetrigao UPHC. Residents from the local community attended the session.

     

    Ms. Monica opened the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its objectives, and its mission. She elaborated on the different types of organ donation and explained the growing demand reflected in India’s transplant waiting list. Addressing common misconceptions, she presented the facts and myths surrounding organ donation to help clear public doubts.

     

    Concluding her presentation, she emphasized the crucial role of family discussions and consent in facilitating organ donation, encouraging participants to understand and communicate their wishes with their loved ones. The session aimed to foster informed decision-making and promote a culture of voluntary organ donation.

     

    During the session, Mrs. Thaudem Mayarani Devi distributed informative pamphlets on organ donation. Nearly 15 participants attended the session, gaining valuable insights into the life-saving potential of organ donation.
