In order to promote Deceased Organ Donation an awareness program was held on 14th November 2013 at the Zilla Parishad Primary School, Wanadongri, Hingin Road, Nagpur.
The talk was attended by Z.P. Head Mistress, NYK Nagpur Head, Dainik Bhasker Editor, NYK’S volunteers, Wanadongri People. In all 28 people attended the session.
Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Director, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur delivered a speech about the organ donation and transplantation for therapeutic purposes. He gave such information on:
1) What is THO Act? Who can donate the organ?
2) What is organ donation and processes of organ donation?
3) Types of organ donation?
4) What is brain death as well as natural death?
5) What is different between coma and brain death?
6) How to identify the brain death patient?
7) What is apnea test as well as clinical test?
At the end there was a discussion. All participants were given an information brochure. One person took the pledge of donating his organs by filling up the pledge form and picking up the donor card.
