On 8th August, 2016, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms. Deepika Salian, HR Team member of Coverfox Insurance Broking to conduct an awareness session on Organ Donation. Four separate sessions were conducted during the day, since the employee strength was large.
Mrs. Jaya Jairam began the sessions by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities. She then explained what Organ Donation entailed and went on to talk about Organ Transplants. She highlighted the need for viable organs and India’s current organ donation rate. She went on to explain brain stem death and how it differs from cardiac death and what the certification procedures involve.
Cultural and religious barriers and beliefs related to organ donation were discussed in detail.
The staff members had some specific queries on tissue donation, organ donation and the success rate of transplantation which were duly answered and they were given information.
Twenty one of them have subsequently pledged organs for Donation.
