MOHAN Foundation conducts Deceased Organ Donation program for Youth Red Cross Association

  • On 19th February 2014, Youth Red Cross Association (YRCA) of Madha Engineering College, Kundrathur, Chennai conducted a awareness programme for their college students.  Mr. S. Rajmohan Programme Coordinator (YRCA) invited MOHAN Foundation to give an awareness talk & stall on Organ Donation.

     

    The programme began with a welcome address by the principal, Mr. Dr. P. Ponnusamy.  He explained the importance of event and mentioned that Madha Engineering College celebrates the Youth Red Cross Day on 15th of February every year. So this year they wanted to promote organ donation and Mr. Prakash K. & Mr. Jeyabal M, Transplant Coordinators, MOHAN Foundation participated in the programme and Mr. Prakash K. spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation.

     

    The following topics were covered in the presentation:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of the consent from the family
    • Importance of Donor card 
    • Tissues and organs  that can be donated
    • Transplant Coordinators Training Programme

     

    Soon after the talk the Transplant Coordinators set up an information stall in the college. Totally 310 students picked donor cards and supported the cause. At the end of the programme Mr. S. Rajmohan gave a vote of thanks
