MOHAN Foundation conducted organ Donation awareness at Everest Society, Parsik Hill on Republic Day

  • On 26th  January 2024, MOHAN Foundation conduct awareness talk at Parsik Hill on account of ‘Republic Day’ Mrs. Rashi in charge of Everest Society, organized this programme. All members of Everest Society along with their relatives and workers participated in this session. The sessionwas conducted by Ms. Prathana Dwivedi - Public Education Officer.Ms. Prathana was the speaker for the day. She introduced herself and MOHAN Foundation. She then began her presentation by asking the participants about their personal thoughts and feeling about organ donation.There after, she discussed the following topics on organ donation:

    1. Concept of organ donation and its importance

    2. When and why transplant is needed?

    3. Types of death- Brain death and Circulatory death

    4. Difference between brain death and coma

    5. THO Act was explained to the participants.

    6. Myths and facts about organ donation were discussed in detail.

    7. MOHAN Foundation’s Helpline number was displayed to the audience

    The following were the questions asked by the participants:

     Will the body be disfigured after organ donation?

     Which organs can be donated by a living donor?

     How will a family know about a registered organ donors wish after his death?

     For how long can corneas be stored? 

    The session on organ donation inspired 15 members to pledge their organs. 32 participants attended the session. Society members conveyed their heartfelt thanks to Ms. Prarthana for creating awareness on organ donation to their team.
