On April 14, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. The session was organized in association with Mother Tongue Law Firm and FEMA Trust for their volunteers and staff. Around 18 participants attended the session.
The program began with a motivational short film by Vijay, helping participants understand the importance of organ donation and how it supports families. Ms. Kanishka, Project Executive, then spoke about eye donation awareness, covering topics such as corneal blindness, the need for eye donation among youngsters, the donation process, and common myths and facts.
The session continued with Mrs. Arshiya, Senior Project Executive, who explained organ donation in detail, including the concepts of brain death and coma, Legal aspects of organ donation types of organ donation, retrieval time frames, and a recipient’s story. She also guided participants on how to pledge for organ donation and how one can receive an organ if needed.
Participants actively engaged in the session by asking questions, such as whether a recipient can donate again, if organs are taken without family consent, and why only tissues are donated in circulatory death.
The session concluded with a video of Ahmed Hussain, a heart transplant recipient, highlighting life after transplantation. In total, 10 individuals voluntarily pledged for organ and tissue donation.
