On August 31, 2025, MOHAN Foundation participated in the observance of the 40th National Eye Donation Fortnight at Thangmeiband Athletic Union Ground, Imphal West. The theme of the event was “Everyday Heroes.” Representing MOHAN Foundation were Ms. Laishram Monica Devi (Project Coordinator – Northeast & Project Lead – Manipur), Mr. Bidyananda Laishram (Senior Program Executive), and Mrs. Thaudem Mayarani Devi (Program Executive).
The programme, which included eye donation pledging and a free eye screening camp, was organised by the National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI) under the National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur, in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur, with support from the Development Organisation Thangmeiband.

• Guests of Honour: Dr. Ningombam Reagan, Director In-charge, Manipur State Eye Bank, and Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator – Northeast & Project Lead – Manipur, MOHAN Foundation
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shugeta highlighted that although Manipur has an eye bank, eye donation numbers remain very low due to limited awareness, cultural beliefs, religious misconceptions, and family objections. She urged the public to come forward, saying, “By donating your eyes, you can give someone the gift of sight or help in important medical research.”
Ms. Monica introduced MOHAN Foundation’s work in Imphal and sensitized the gathering on organ and tissue donation. She explained the difference between brainstem death and coma, addressed myths and misconceptions, and emphasized the significance of organ donation pledges, donor cards, and their lifesaving impact.
The event witnessed nearly 275 participants, of whom 14 pledged their eyes through the Manipur State Eye Bank.
